Feelin' Good!

The pool wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be! I did 11 laps (550 yards). Afterward, my pecs were so sore I could barely move my arms.....I thought today was going to suck. but they're just a little stiff today. Weird.

Did 10 miles on the bike too and 2.66 miles walking.

Choppin' away at it a little at a time!!!

Out. Of. Shape.

I knew I was out of shape, but this is rediculous!

Did the hour on the bike make me sore? Nope, didn't even phase me! ....the walking....the 2-3 20 min bouts I'm doing is killing my legs! I so cannot pick up my toes!

I can only hope by the end of the tri, it's a little easier. =)

Tonight's a big night at the gym, 9.3 miles on the bike and the first night in the pool - shooting for 11 laps. Woo hooooooo!

So Far So Good!

I know it's only been 5 days since I stopped eating fast food....but it's been hard! I've had to say, "No, get something else!"

....but so far so good. Haven't gone off program yet! ....and I can tell I'm eating less calories cuz I was definitely ready for a snack when I got home from work!

We went to Walmart to pick out dinner (which was HARD cuz we were hungry) and we ended up with turkey necks and legs! YUM! I think they're going to take way more than an hour like the package says. I turned 'em at 30 min and they were still very raw. But we had an appetizer of smokey cheese, light salami, and crackers. So, HOPEFULLY we'll be ok 'till then!

---------------------------------------

Fri, Sat, and Sun were spent doing Singing Valentines with The Tonettes! We did about 50 Valentines and 3 dinner banquets. OMG! Today is the first day I've felt normal. I can't tell you how exhausting it is to drive all over town and sing all day! Fri and Sat were each 12-hour days and Sunday was still an 8 hour day.....and we even had a birthday gram on Monday! Thank GOD I was off from work. Hooray for President's Day! I cannot tell you how much I want to burn my skirt and shoes! LOL

-----------------------------------------
4 more days until the RMHP Tri Challenge! I'm SO excited!!!! I can't wait to start the tri and give you a play by play. I'm going to have to just jump right in with both feet unless I can sneak in some exercise between now and then. .....but Steve and I have been having a great time hanging out together when we're able so I'm partial to doing that. I love my Hubbs!

Well, I'm off to watch some more Winter Olympics. Curling is on. Yay. That is the DUMBEST sport I've ever seen. I wouldn't even call it a sport. ....and they take it so seriously! I can't wait to what Shaun White tonight! Woo hoo!

Ok, I'm outy! See ya!

Update to Lent

So, I started the no fast food thing on Sat the 13th instead of waiting for Lent.

I don't need a specific day, right? RIGHT! It's pretty much a forever kind of thing anyway!

Lent

I posted a briefer, to-the-point version of this post on our Fit Club blog.......

I'm not Catholic, but I've decided to participate in my very first Lent!

I've been have an extremely rough time getting on track with a healthier diet. I swear, I have something clinically wrong with me. I'll go to Wendy's thinking, "I'll get the grilled chicken sandwich and a chili." What do I end up with? A frickin' #2 (double cheeseburger and fries). It's disgusting. So, I need to cut myself off completely from even going to those restaurants. I don't like the "healthy" choices at fast food restaurants so I don't ever order them. Back in Sept, we did a 90-day challenge where I gave up cheese and ice cream. I survived without it, and not being able to eat cheese helped me to make healthier decisions on what to eat.

So for lent I've decided:

NO bad-for-you fast food! This includes restaurants like Wendy's, Taco Bell, Burger King, and such.

Ok "fast" food restaurants are: Pita Pit, Bocaza, Pancheros, etc.

I see a lot of Luna Bars and brown rice and chicken in my future. =)

This will also really help with the RMHMC Triathlon Challenge that starts Feb 22nd. I'm excited for the challenge. As a reminder, it's an Ironman-length triathlon that is completed over 14 days. If you do it in 7 you get put on the honor roll! But, more on that in a later post. =)

So, there's my official announcement! Ma is also doing it with me. She's also giving up sweets as fast food isn't a problem for her (but I guess sweets are). =)

Why do mornings hate me so? It doesn't matter what time I get to bed, getting up in the morning is SUCH a chore.

This morning The Tonettes had to be at channel 9 news at 5:45 AM. (Yes, you read that right.) In order to be on time and in a mental state fit for singing, I had to curl my hair before I went to bed and get up 4:30 AM to make sure I had ample time to put my hair up, get my face on, and most importantly, drink some coffee and eat a banana. The "performance" went well and now, here I sit writing this post. I can feel that 4:30 wake-up reeking havoc on me. I get hungry headachy and my eyeballs burn. Oh yeah, did I mention I have a desk job that sometimes bores me to sleep when I DON'T get up before the butt crack of dawn???? Great.

I don't see a solution to my morning woes coming any time soon.....I just wanted to bitch about it. =)

In other news!.......

Just gettin' over the yearly sinus infection. I'm shocked I didn't get sick before now. So, instead I get it just in time for Singing Valentines! Yay! I was smart in going to my allergy specialist this time instead of my PCP. She gave me a Z-pak (azithromycin) which always works well for me. Not like my PCP who always starts me out on amoxicillin or some other worthless piece of shit......which doesn't work and I have to call in and get a Z-pak anyway. AND my allergist told me that if I don't feel better by today that I should call in for a refill......AND if it comes back, all I have to do is call in and she'll refill it for me then, too!

I love my allergist.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch.........

At work we're doing the RMHMC Triathlon Challenge. We have 14 days (Feb 22-March7) to complete a Ironman distance triathlon. That's a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and a 26.2 mile run/walk. Sounds ridiculous, but if I spread it out over the full 14 days it's totally doable! It's only 6 laps in the pool, 8 miles on the bike, and 2 miles run/walk, per day! I'm excited for it cuz this is the kick in the ass I need to get my tri training started for real. I AM going to do the Highline Hustle so, the earlier and more religiously I train, the less it's going to suck. .....and I just looked at the 2010 race site when I linked it to this post----registration is $55! Jesus!

On a sad note.........

My Uncle Raymie (Mom's brother) died yesterday. He was diagnosed with Leukemia last year and he lost his battle yesterday around 12:00. I'm sad for Ma and the family, but glad cuz now he's in a better place and not in pain anymore. Rest in peace, Tio Raymie!

Well, folks....that's all for now! Danielle, sorry I haven't been posting much, but I really want to post more this year, I swear! =) I'm sure I'll have lots to talk about when I start training. Yuk.

HAPPY FRIDAY!
